Uta Fritsch has been working in several European vulnerability research projects at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). In 2005 she contributed as a co-author to the report “Climate Change in Germany – Vulnerability and Adaptation of Climate sensitive Systems” financed by the German Federal Environment Agency and to the report “Vulnerability and Adaptation to Climate Change Impacts in Europe” (European Environmental Agency, Technical Report No 07/2005). Before her first maternity leave she was the scientific coordinator of the EU funded concerted action “Integrated Assessment of Vulnerable Ecosystems under Global Change - AVEC”. She coordinated a workshop on "Vulnerability of European ecosystem facing an increasing drought risk" in the Mediterranean and prepared the first AVEC summer school in 2003. For her PhD at the University of Potsdam in the department of Geo-ecology and PIK she was developing and modelling land-use scenarios for investigating the influence of land-use changes on flood-runoff generation. Her research interests are land-use changes, landscape dynamics, hydrology and vulnerability assessments.
