Biosketch
Odd Terje Sandlund is Research Director at the Department of Aquatic Research at the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA) in Trondheim where he is working on aquatic ecology, freshwater ecosystems (lakes and rivers), alien species in fresh waters, ecology of freshwater fishes and the exploitation of fish populations. He has also worked extensively on issues related to management and conservation of biodiversity and natural resources in general. He is especially interested in cross-disciplinary research combining natural and social sciences and applying this to natural resources management and also watershed management.
Odd Terje Sandlund has been adjunct Professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim where he developed a multidisciplinary course on biodiversity. He has worked in many developing countries on issues like biodiversity conservation and management, management of aquatic and terrestrial natural resources, and environmental impact assessments. He has published widely: 65 scientific papers, 136 technical reports and popular science articles, and he has co-edited 7 books and conference proceedings.
