Aims & Scope

This workshop is intended to bring together researchers dealing with data analysis and modelling in all fields of Earth Sciences. In addition to presentations on methodological developments, this workshop especially invites active participation of geoscientists interested in using advanced methods of data analysis. To particularly encourage participation of young scientists, there will be a special “work-in-progress” oral session and a practical tutorial on using statistical software packages accompanying the workshop.

Methods to be discussed include, but are not limited to:

  • linear and nonlinear methods of time series analysis
  • trend detection, scaling analysis, and extreme events
  • statistical inference for nonlinear time series
  • data-based modelling, conceptual models, and model validation
  • multivariate (especially spatio-temporal) data analysis
  • filtering

As a post-conference publication, all authors are invited to contribute to a peer-reviewed topical issue.
