Alexander Lorenz has studied Physics and Philosophy at the University of Potsdam where he recieved a Master equivalent (german Diplom) in Physics in December 2007. Since early 2008 he works as scientist in PIK's research domain III (Sustainable Solutions). He is enrolled as PhD student at the Technical University of Berlin (CV as pdf (german)). Focus of Research: Alexander Lorenz investigates the influence of parametric uncertainty and anticipated learning about uncertain economic and climatic key system properties on optimal global mitigation strategies for climate change. Thereby the interaction of different important inflexibilities, stemming from different subsystems, is of special interest. The development of adequate decision criteria for the integrated analysis of climate change is looked at. Other important key issues in this context are "Value of Information", "Option Value" and "Value of Anticipation". In parallel Alexander Lorenz participated the the coupling of the hybrid energy system-macro economic model REMIND to a state of the art one dimensional climate module ACC2. This work is part of PIK's contribution to the EU financed ADAM project (Adaptation and Mitigation strategies: Supporting European climate policy, Workpackage M2). |
