Current research interests
Sustainable bioenergyEnergy made from renewable organic material is increasingly promoted as an effective instrument to mitigate climate change and secure future energy supply. As the global demand for biomass increases it is necessary to understand the potential ecological consequences of large scale biomass plantations. How much biomass can be harvested from the world's ecosystems in a sustainable way? How will changes in land use associated with dedicated biomass plantations affect biodiversity and carbon storage in vegetation and soils?
