Beijing Normal University (BNU) has a history of more than 100 years,
which is almost as long as the history of Chinese modern education. The
University has developed from the Faculty of Education, Capital
Metropolitan University established in 1902 under the concept of
Establish school, prioritize teacher education,which initiated teacher
training in Chinese higher education. After several times of merging
and reforming since 1949, especially in the 1980s, Beijing Normal
University has moved into the new age of rapid development. The
University's history is an epitome of the development of modern teacher
training and Chinese higher education.
The Center is a coordinated research
program by 47 Collaborators at 22 Institutions - 13
Institutions in the US, and 9 in seven other countries - interested
in interactions of society and the environment. Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh (USA)
The European Climate Forum (ECF) is a platform
for joint studies and science-based stakeholder dialogues on climatic
change. ECF brings together representatives of different parties
concerned with the climate problem. The core activity of the Forum is
to define and carry out joint studies; these provide arguments
for long-term climate mitigation and adaptation policies leading
ultimately towards a sustainable development path.
The International Human Dimensions Programme on Global Environmental
Change (IHDP) is an international, interdisciplinary science programme,
dedicated to promoting, catalysing and coordinating research,
capacity-development and networking on the human dimensions of global
environmental change. It takes a social science perspective on global
change and works on the interface between science and practice. IHDP is
a joint programme of the International Council for Science (ICSU), the
International Social Science Council (ISSC) and the United Nations
University (UNU).
The IRG-Project seeks to focus on the relations between science,
technology and management in order to identify ways of improving risk
governance internationally. The knowledge generated by the IRG
initiative shall foster policies that effectively reduce the
vulnerability of individuals and communities to complex risks. ...
IRGC is an independent organisation whose purpose is to help the
understanding and management of global risks that impact on human
health and safety, the environment, the economy and society at large.
The University of Potsdam was founded out of the Potsdam College of
Education in 1991. Its history is closely related to the city of
Potsdam with its kings and royal residences, beautiful places and
parks, its gardens and museums. Today, Potsdam is a city of films and
media as well as a university city.
