Recent LPJ Results
The following plots show some basic results from the standard run
of LPJ using the CRU climatology.
All plots refer to the equilibrium, that is the average of the last
30 years of the spinup.
Resolution is 0.5 degrees. Spinup was 1000 years using the first 30
years of the climatology and 1901 levels of carbon dioxide.

Maximal Leaf Area Index
Since each of the several plant functional types present at a given location
has a different leaf area index, this plot shows a leaf area index equivalent
to the light absorption in the pixel as a whole. That is, the absorpbed
radiation APAR was summed over all plant functional tapes and divided by
incident PAR to arrive at a pixel fPAR value, which was then reinterpreted
as a leaf area index. This index does not necessarily relate closely to
the actual vegetation, especially where vegetation types with very different
leaf area indixes co-occur.
Annual Fraction of Absorbed Radiation
The absorbed radiation APAR was summed over all plant functional types
present in a pixel and added over the course of a year; then the result
was divided by the annual sum of incident radiation PAR. The resulting
value is the fraction of radiation incoming anytime during the year that
is absorbed.
