WBGU
Since its inception in 1992, the German Advisory Council on Global Change to the Federal Government (WBGU) is dealing with questions of global change. As an independent advisory council, WBGU provides scientific policy advice and makes policy as well as research recommendations. Leading scientists of the Potsdam Institute are working for WBGU: Professor Hans Joachim Schellnhuber has been a member of WBGU since 1992 and is currently leading this institution. As a council member, Professor Stefan Rahmstorf contributes his expertise in oceans and climate research.
