Biosketch
Augustin Berghöfer works at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research – UFZ, Leipzig, in the scientific coordination of the global study “The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity” (TEEB). With a background in economics and political science, he is co-authoring the TEEB Report for Local and Regional Policy Levels. Previously, Augustin has worked on fishery management institutions in the EU, on evaluation instruments for environmental management and policy, and on protected areas examining the role of scientists and of institutional structures.
Prior to joining the UFZ in 2006, Augustin worked for the Omora Foundation in Southern Chile which achieved the recognition of the Cape Horn Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2005.
